Variant Sea - Khione
The post-rock, ambient duo Variant Sea have a new ep titled, Selene and one of the tracks I immediately gravitated towards was Khione. It’s the perfect atmosphere and combines several of my favorite genres (post-rock, neo-classical and ambient!).
There’s a bright and whimsical piano melody that can be found at the center of the track, meanwhile a lush atmospheric backdrop is helping fill the air with a day dreamy like feels. Variant Sea is a duo who are based in Iceland and Ireland and used their surrounding environment as a source of inspiration for their new release. From night landscapes to the nature settings of both countries, Variant Sea has done a wonderful job at capturing those worlds and transporting them to anyone willing to listen.
